Captured at the Botanical Gardens. Clematis (KLEma-tis)[2] is a genus of about 300 species[3] within the buttercup family Ranunculaceae. Their garden hybrids have been popular among gardeners,[4] beginning with Clematis × jackmanii, a garden standby since 1862; more hybrid cultivars are being produced constantly. They are mainly of Chinese and Japanese origin. Most species are known as clematis in English, while some are also known as traveller's joy, a name invented for the sole British native, C. vitalba, by the herbalist John Gerard; virgin's bower for C. viticella; old man's beard, applied to several with prominent seedheads; and leather flower or vase vine for the North American Clematis viorna.
Award winning photographer, Penny Lisowski, started using a Nikon 35mm camera in1979. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and now lives with her childhood sweetheart, Chuck in Winder, Ga. to be near their family,including grandsons Ryan and Greg. In 1992 her husband, Chuck, encouraged her to enter her first exhibition at Photo 92. That first ribbon was just the beginning and since then Penny has won awards at many art shows and exhibitions. In addition to the awards her work is displayed in businesses and homes throughout the country. In her quest to learn more she graduated from the New York Institute of Photography, home study course.
