This is truly a southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) found in many yards throughout the south. Reaching 27.5 m (90 ft) in height, it is a large striking evergreen tree with large dark green leaves and large white fragrant flowers up to 30 cm (12 in) in diameter.
About Penny Lisowski
Award winning photographer, Penny Lisowski, started using a Nikon 35mm camera in1979. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and now lives with her childhood sweetheart, Chuck in Winder, Ga. to be near their family,including grandsons Ryan and Greg. In 1992 her husband, Chuck, encouraged her to enter her first exhibition at Photo 92. That first ribbon was just the beginning and since then Penny has won awards at many art shows and exhibitions. In addition to the awards her work is displayed in businesses and homes throughout the country. In her quest to learn more she graduated from the New York Institute of Photography, home study course. Love the detail in this Penny - the curls in the center are awesome. Can't wait 'til it warms up enough here for my star magnolia to blossom. They only bloom for a couple of weeks up here in the northeast but what a treat when they do!
