Found this Japanese Iris , hanashobu (Iris ensata), while walking around a pond at 6PM in the evening. The light and perfectly still conditions gave me an opportunity to capture this Purple Perfection with its bud. Of course the camera never gets what I saw. So I enhanced it and gave the flower a painterly look. I spent a few days perfecting this image. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Here is some info I gathered for you. The term "Japanese iris" encompasses three species of Irises cultivated in gardens or growing wild in Japan: hanashōbu (Iris ensata), kakitsubata (Iris laevigata) and ayame (Iris sanguinea). Of these three species, I. ensata is the one most commonly referred to as "Japanese iris" outside of Japan.
